Abstract
The decline in tuberculosis (TB) incidence since 1950 stopped in the l ate 1980s, but the reasons for this arrest are not yet certain. An HIV /TB interaction, such as that described in the USA, has not yet been c onvincingly shown. Because of the decreased prevalence and variable di stribution of TB cases, clinical awareness of TB has been reduced and its management can be suboptimal.
