Abstract
Photogrammetry displays many attributes which make it an ideal tool fo r precise industrial measurement. Modern automated photogrammetric sys tems are fast, accurate, reliable, flexible and economical in comparis on to traditional as well as some modem three-dimensional coordinate m easuring techniques. The benefits of industrial photogrammetry have at tracted growing recognition over the past decade, to the point where t he method is now a widely used measurement tool, especially in the aer ospace, aircraft manufacturing, microwave antenna and shipbuilding ind ustries. In this paper the role of close-range photogrammetry in indus try is discussed. Characteristics of the technique are reviewed, syste ms aspects are touched upon, and four diverse applications are summari zed.
