K. Oneill et al., TOXIN PRODUCTION BY FUSARIUM-CULMORUM IMI-309344 AND F-GRAMINEARUM NRRL-5883 ON GRAIN SUBSTRATES, Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 74(6), 1993, pp. 625-628
The production of deoxynivalenol, acetyl deoxynivalenol and zearalenon
e by Fusarium culmorum and F. graminearum on autoclave-sterilized grai
n (maize, rice, wheat and barley) was investigated. Fusarium culmorum
produced significantly greater levels of toxins than F. graminearum. T
he four substrates examined differed in their ability to support toxin
production. Toxin production on maize and rice was significantly grea
ter than toxin production on barley or wheat.
