Abstract
This paper examined the psychological aspects of failing to conceive w ith in vitro fertilization on 14 treated infertile and 14 untreated Ir anian patients. Analysis suggests that, although a significant amount of psychological discomfort is associated with being infertile, the fa ct that patients have endured unsuccessful treatment cycles does not s eem to aggravate the situation any further. Perhaps undergoing unsucce ssful IVF treatment cycles could be a psychologically positive epilogu e in closing the book on infertility treatment.
