Abstract
4,5,6-Pentafluoro-6-chloro-2,4-cyclohexadien-1-one (I) and chloro-2,4, 5,6-tetrafluoro-2,4-cyclohexadien-1-one (II) readily undergo the Diels -Alder reaction with aryl- and alkyl-substituted acetylenes giving [241-cycloadducts in good yield. The latter undergo aromatization by nuc leophilic agents under mild conditions to alpha-chlorophenylacetic aci d derivatives containing two or three fluorine atoms in the aromatic r ing.
