Poly-(2,6-di-(2-thenyl) pyridine) was investigated for its ability to
complex to metals via the pyridine group. Ag+, Cu2+ and Pd2+ were redu
cible in MeCN at the polymer coated electrode after it had been activa
ted by cathodic potentials. The polymer was insulating in aqueous medi
a but in MeCN the cation [Ru3O(OAc)6(py)2(MeOH)]+, py=pyridine, was ad
sorbed onto the polymer as a monolayer.
