Abstract
Polythienylenevinylenes were prepared by the palladium catalyzed coupl ing reaction of 2,5-diiodothiophenes and 1,2-bistributylstannylethylen e. The presence of an alkyl chain longer than 4 carbon atoms in the 3 position of the thiophene repeating unit gives solubility to the polym er. The structures of the polymer have been confirmed by C-13-NMR and the optical properties have been studied with FTIR and UV-Vis spectros copy. Conductivities are in the range of 10(-2) S/cm.
