Abstract
High molecular weight, amorphous, soluble poly(arylene ether)s contain ing 2,2'-dibenzoylbiphenyl units are synthesized, based on the difluor o monomers derived from 2-chlorofluorobenzophenones, by a nickel(0)-ca talyzed coupling reaction. The glass transition temperatures range fro m 156 to 230-degrees-C. The 5% weight losses from these polymers by th ermal gravimetric analysis occur all above 460-degrees-C in nitrogen a nd 448-degrees-C in air.
