Abstract
Mesomorphic properties of polymers with asymmetric mesogenic groups an d flexible methylene spacers of various lengths are studied. It was fo und that the asymmetrical arrangement of ester groups in mesogenic fra gments and ''head-to-head'' linking of mesogenic fragments in the macr omolecule favor the formation of a nematic liquid-crystalline state in the melt.
