Sv. Kolpakov et al., HIGH-TEMPERATURE BLAST-FURNACE HOT BLAST STOVES WITH LOOSE PACKING OFCORUNDUM SPHERES - EXPERIENCE IN DEVELOPMENT AND PROSPECTIVE APPLICATIONS, Steel in translation, 22(10), 1992, pp. 444-448
Experience in the development of an experimental industrial unit of hi
gh temperature blast furnace hot blast stoves and in its operation for
over three years is described. The stoves have a loose packing of cor
undum spheres and, although more compact than ordinary stoves, give a
blast temperature of up to 1400-1500-degrees-C with a consequent coke
rate reduction. Units of such stoves are recommended initially for fur
naces of 1000 m3 volume, and individual stoves can also be used in com
bination with conventional Cowper stoves for increasing and stabilisin
g blast temperature.
