Investigations have been carried out on a 2150 Lauth mill to determine
features of plate rolling. The dependence of the plate reduction sche
dule on the temperature regime of rolling and transverse thickness var
iation of the stock is discussed. The speed conditions of deformation
prevent dynamic and metadynamic recrystallisation, resulting in the fo
rmation of a homogeneous structure at the stage of dynamic recovery an
d dynamic polygonisation and a corresponding improvement in the proper
ties of the metal. The mill motor has substantial reserves, which coul
d be used to improve plate quality by rolling in the two phase alpha gamma region at reduced temperatures.
