Abstract
The gain characteristics of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier are invest igated as a function of pump wavelength with a Ti:sapphire tunable las er While keeping pump power constant, the optimum PumP wavelength can be chosen by varying the pump wavelength between 780 and 840 nm. The r esults of a gain higher than 35 dB using the 807 nm pump band are obta ined.
