This work addresses the problem of determining heat integration feasib
ility in batch systems. Different arrangements of beat integration in
these systems are discussed. Mathematical models are developed by usin
g unified mathematical descriptions. Temperature time-variation relati
onships, which contain the main design and performance parameters expl
icitly, are obtained. A method for optimal parametric synthesis of the
systems considered, is proposed. The problem is formulated in terms o
f nonlinear programming with constraints in the form of equalities and
inequalities. An example is given to illustrate the application of th
e method proposed.
