Abstract
This paper illustrates some recent advances in finite element procedur es that are important for practical engineering analysis. Capabilities to solve large finite element systems using iterative methods, and so me significant advances in finite element procedures for the nonlinear analysis of structures and fluids are demonstrated. The emphasis is o n presenting solution results that demonstrate the applicability of fi nite element procedures rather than on theoretical developments (which are available in references).
