A. Peer et al., BALLOON CATHETER DILATATION OF FOCAL COLONIC STRICTURES FOLLOWING NECROTIZING ENTEROCOLITIS, Cardiovascular and interventional radiology, 16(4), 1993, pp. 248-250
Two infants with severe colonic strictures secondary to necrotizing en
terocolitis (NEC) were successfully dilated with balloon catheters. Th
e procedures were performed under mild sedation, with fluoroscopic gui
dance. Results were sustained for more than 4 years follow-up. This pr
ocedure proved to be a safe and effective alternative to operative rep
air.
