Abstract
The Chemical Sequential Reactor (CSR) can be considered as an advanced oxidation process able to treat wastewaters with ozone. Its operation involves a succession of acidic and alkaline pH conditions throughout continuous ozonation. The two oxidation mechanisms (direct reaction o f molecular ozone and hydroxyl free radical reactions), coupled with c arbon dioxide stripping, increase removal rates and ozone efficiency. Ozone efficiency is also maintained for longer periods.
