N. Mordel et al., SUCCESSFUL FULL-TERM PREGNANCY IN FAMILIAL MEDITERRANEAN FEVER COMPLICATED WITH AMYLOIDOSIS - CASE-REPORT AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Fetal diagnosis and therapy, 8(2), 1993, pp. 129-134
Pregnancy during familial Mediterranean fever complicated with amyloid
osis and severe nephrotic syndrome is rare and may cause several mater
nal and fetal complications. Asymmetrical intrauterine growth retardat
ion, superimposed preeclampsia, thromboembolic phenomena, resistant an
emia and renal failure only partially represent the possible complicat
ions. A successful outcome of a full-term pregnancy is presented and t
he efficiency of colchicine, a high protein diet, acetylsalicylic acid
and dipyridamole is discussed.
