Abstract
This paper presents the results of backscattering tests based on full- waveform scans performed on composite specimens. Five samples were man ufactured with varying fiber directions and different numbers of lamin ae per direction. Ultrasonic backscattering tests of these samples wer e performed using digitized full-waveform scans. An algorithm was deve loped to determine the fiber direction with a tolerance of 2 to 3-degr ees and the number of laminae within a range of +/- 0.5 lamina for sec tions close to the front surface.
