MICROCOMPUTER-BASED SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC-ANALYSIS OF M-MODE ECHOCARDIOGRAMS

A microcomputer-based system has been developed for automatically anal ysing M-mode echocardiograms. This system can be used on images direct ly transferred from an echograph to the microcomputer. To obviate the major disadvantage of echocardiography, its poor signal-to-noise (SIN) level, the system conducts, first, an image restoration based on the quasi-periodicity of cardiac cycles, then border extraction is perform ed, using methods based on template matching using dynamic cardiac inf ormation present in the echocardiograms.
