Abstract
Starting from CF3SSCI and (CH3)3SiNSO, the compound S(N-sulfinylimine) -perfluoromethyldisulphane, CF3SSNSO, has been prepared. The IR, pre-r esonant Raman, F-19, C-13 and N-15 NMR, mass, and UV spectra have been obtained and interpreted. Both Raman studies at different temperature s and those using different excitation radiations reveal the existence of the molecule in one preferred conformation. From these studies a p re-resonant effect can be determined. Its extension is associated with the particular C, conformation adopted for the molecule. The availabl e spectroscopical data confirm not only the proposed structure for the molecule but are also consistent with a skew[S-C(F3) and S-N], skew ( S-S, N=S) and cis (S-N, S=O) conformation regarding the S-S and X-NSO parts of the molecule.
