Abstract
The room temperature FTIR transmission and Raman scattering spectra of M2Cu2O5 (M = In, Sc, Y, Tb-Lu) semiconductors in the 30-700 cm-1 rang e are examined. A factor group analysis and normal coordinate calculat ions have been performed to identify the external modes. The Urey-Brad ley Force Field model and potential energy distribution were applied i n the phonon calculations. The Y/Er and Y/Gd exchange effects were stu died and analysed in terms of M3+, ion translation energy.
