Abstract
Thermal or photochemical decomposition of (bpyH)3(H3O)[Mo(CN)8] . H2O in aqueous solutions gives amorphous salts with anions formulated as [ Mo3O4(CN)9-x (H2O)x](5-x)- (x = 0-3). The series of mixed-ligand compl exes was characterized by chemical analyses, UV-vis. IR and ESR spectr ometry, as well as cyclic voltammetry, thermogravimetry and electropho resis measurements. Chemical reactions, typical of molybdenum(IV) trim ers, support the formulation of salts as containing the (Mo3O4) core.
