REACTIONS OF 1,3-BUTANEDIOL WITH HEXACHLOROCYCLOTRIPHOSPHAZENE - UNUSUAL NON-EQUIVALENCE OF PHOSPHORUS NUCLEI IN THE SPIROCYCLIC PRODUCT N3P3CL4[OCH(CH3)CH2CH2]
Mg. Muralidhara et al., REACTIONS OF 1,3-BUTANEDIOL WITH HEXACHLOROCYCLOTRIPHOSPHAZENE - UNUSUAL NON-EQUIVALENCE OF PHOSPHORUS NUCLEI IN THE SPIROCYCLIC PRODUCT N3P3CL4[OCH(CH3)CH2CH2], Polyhedron, 12(12), 1993, pp. 1509-1513
The reaction of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene, N3P3Cl6 (1), with 1,3-b
utane-diol affords the tetrachloro derivative N3P3Cl4[OCH(CH3)(CH2)2O]
(2). This product (2) and its derivative N3P3(NMe2)4[OCH(CH3)(CH2)2O]
(3) possess spirocyclic structures. The phosphorus NMR spectrum of 2
is of the AMX type instead of the expected AB2 or AX2 types observed f
or other spirocyclic products. The synthesis of 2 and 3 and their char
acterization by proton and phosphorus NMR are discussed.
