SOMATOSTATIN RECEPTORS IN MENINGIOMAS - A SCINTIGRAPHIC STUDY USING IN-111 DTPA-D-PHE-1-OCTREOTIDE

In-111-octreotide (Octreoscan) planar scintigraphy was performed in 12 patients with suspected meningioma, The scan was positive in 10 patie nts with meningioma and negative in two patients with acoustic neurino ma assisting in the differential diagnosis. Good quality images were o btained as early as 2 h after injection and there was no increase in d iagnostic quality at 24 h. No adverse effects were observed to radioph armaceutical administration. The following conclusions are drawn: In-1 11-octreotide is a safe and fast test which can increase the specifici ty of traditional neuroimaging procedures.
