Abstract
Several xo-3-thiazolidinylamino)acetyl]-10H-phenothiazines (IIIa-o), l orxo-1-azetidinylamino)acetyl]-10H-phenothiazines (IVa-o), 1,3,7,9-tet rabromo-10-(N-arylmalonamic acid hydrazidoacetyl)-10H-phenothiazines ( VIIa-o), and 1,3,7,9-tetrabromo-10-(3, -diaryl-2-pyrazolin-1-ylacetyl) -10H-phenothiazines (IXa-o) have been synthesised and tested for their antimicrobial activity. These compounds exhibit moderate to good anti bacterial and tuberculostatic activities. The structures of the synthe sised compounds (III, IV, VII and IX) have been established on the bas is of their elemental analyses and spectral data.
