Triorganotin derivatives of N-hydroxyphthalimide and N-hydroxysuccinim
ide have been obtained by the reaction of bis (triorganotin) oxide and
the ligands in 1:2 molar ratio. The molecular weight data indicate th
e monomeric nature of these compounds. The IR and C-13 NMR spectral da
ta suggest the absence of coordination from carbonyl group to tin atom
. The Sn-119 NMR data indicate four coordinated tin atom in these comp
ounds. The diorganotin derivatives of these ligands have been obtained
by the reactions of organotin moieties and the ligands in 1:1 ratio a
nd they are found to be polymeric compounds containing Sn-O-Sn bonds.
The Sn-119 NMR data confirmed the presence of both penta- and hexa-coo
rdinated tin atoms, arising out of intermolecular carbonyl coordinatio
n.
