Y. Haimicohen et al., THE USE OF IMIPENEM-CILASTATIN IN NEONATAL MENINGITIS CAUSED BY CITROBACTER-DIVERSUS, Acta paediatrica, 82(6-7), 1993, pp. 530-532
Citrobacter diversus is a cause of severe meningitis in neonates and i
nfants. It is unique in its propensity to produce brain abscesses that
play an important role in the poor prognosis associated with this con
dition. The recommended therapeutic regimen of third-generation cephal
osporines, aminoglycosides and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is usuall
y disappointing. We describe the use of imipenem-cilastatin in success
fully treating Citrobacter diversus meningitis complicated by brain ab
scesses.
