The results of allowing 3-formyl-4-hydroxy-1,8-naphthyridin-2-one to r
eact with o, m, and p-phenylenediamine, aliphatic and aromatic primary
amines, hydrazines, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, nitriles, acetic anh
ydride, ethyl acetate, ethyl chloroacetate and potassium permanganate
have been reported. Some reactions of 3,3-dichloro-and-3,3-dibromo der
ivatives also reported. The structure of the products have been establ
ished on the basis of elemental analysis and spectroscopic data.
