Abstract
Fe77.2Al22.8 and Fe70.5Al29.5 magnetic thin films with a thickness of 1 mum were prepared by a rf magnetron sputtering method, and the forma tion and decomposition of DO3 ordered structure, Fe3Al, were examined through x-ray diffraction analysis and conversion electron Mossbauer s pectroscopy. The formation of DO3 ordered structure was confirmed in b oth films obtained by annealing at 500 or 600-degrees-C. The DO3 order ed structure in the Fe77.2Al22.8 Was unstable at temperatures above 70 0-degrees-C, leading to the decomposition into alpha-Fe and FeAl.
