The kinetics were studied of the oxidation reaction of matrix radicals
C8H17 + O2 --> C8H17O2 in a vitreous matrix of 3-methylheptane at var
ious concentrations of oxygen and nitrogen of the samples, as well as
the influence of the annealing of the matrix on the kinetics. It was c
oncluded that deep traps for the molecules of the gas exist in the mat
rix, leading to retardation of the diffusion of oxygen. It was found t
hat the annealing of the matrix at 90 K leads to destruction of the de
ep traps. It was shown that the nonexponentiality of the kinetic curve
s of the oxidation reaction in 3-methylheptane is due to the occurrenc
e of a distribution of the rates according to constants.
