Abstract
As a part of the European EUROCORE and GRIP (Greenland Ice Core Projec t) operations aimed at recovering deep ice cores at Summit (Central Gr eenland), we have for the first time successfully performed ion chroma tography measurements in the field and investigated in detail the solu ble impurities, including Na+, NH4+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, F-, CH3COO-, CH2O HCOO-, HCOO-, CH3SO3-, Cl-, NO2-, SO42- and C2O42-, trapped in ice dep osited over some 200 000 years in Greenland.
