Abstract
Fear, anxiety and anticipation of pain are prepotent emotional and cog nitive mediators of pain behaviour. As pain is often used as a paramet er for evaluation of tooth vitality, existing dental anxiety may occas ionally lead to possible misdiagnosis. A representative case is presen ted in which dental anxiety led to an initial misdiagnosis of endodont ic pathology.
