An electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance was used to obtain data
for the rate of cadmium corrosion immediately following its electroch
emical deposition in sulfate solutions with different acidities. The f
ormation of insoluble corrosion products on the surface was examined a
t different values of pH. The proportionality factor between the chang
e in oscillation frequency of the quartz crystal and the mass of depos
ited cadmium was determined.
