ON RELATION TO SUBSTRATE IN SESSILE ROTIFERS

Information on the distribution of 45 sessile rotifers from diverse fr eshwaters in south and central Sweden was analyzed to reveal possible relationships to their substrates. Almost all of them showed an exclus ively periphytic occurrence. The highest number of species was found o n Utricularia, but otherwise it was not possible to correlate rotifer presence to any special macrophyte or category of plants (e.g., fine-l eaved or floating-leaved species).
