Abstract
NaY zeolites, ion-exchanged by Ni2+, are investigated by xenon adsorpt ion and by Xe-129 NMR. Sulfided and non-sulfided samples are compared. In addition sulfided samples are characterized by thiophene hydrodesu lfurization (HDS). The nickel species are mainly located inside the ze olitic structure in both types of sample, The small nickel sulfide clu sters are efficient thiophene HDS catalysts. Some aspects of the model s used to calculate supercage diameters from Xe-129 NMR chemical shift s are discussed.
