O. Hamalainen et al., DETERMINANTS OF -RELATED NECK PAIN - A PRELIMINARY SURVEY(GZ), Aviation, space, and environmental medicine, 64(7), 1993, pp. 651-652
The aim of the present study was to detect determinants of acute infli
ght neck pain in a cohort of 27 student fighter pilots frequently expo
sed to high +Gz forces. Strenuousness of work, job satisfaction, psych
ological distress, smoking habits, and frequency of muscle strength, m
uscle endurance, and aerobic training regimens were enquired about by
questionnaire. Physical examination determined the subjects' height, b
ody weight, body mass index, head and neck circumference, passive cerv
ical range of motion, grip strength, and isometric strength of neck mu
scles. The frequency of muscle endurance training was the only possibl
e determinant related to experienced acute inflight neck pain.
