Following the introduction and widespread acceptance of laparoscopic c
holecystectomy. laparoscopic techniques have been applied to an increa
sing variety of general surgical procedures. Recently, laparoscopic pr
ocedures for resection of malignancy have begun to emerge, in particul
ar laparoscopic assisted colectomy for carcinoma of the colon.1,2 In t
he cases reported here, metastatic tumour in the laparoscopy port site
s is described as a potentially serious complication of laparoscopic p
rocedures for resection of malignancy.
