Pc2Lu has been described as the first molecular semiconduaor. This pht
halocyanine is more easily oxidized than conventional metallo-phthaloc
yanines. This paper deals with the effects of NO2 gas at room temperat
ure on the conductivity of Pc2Lu layers. It shows that the responses o
f the layers to different concentrations of NO2 are very dependent on
the substrate temperature during vacuum deposition and on the thicknes
s of the Pc2Lu layer. It underlines the contributions of the crystalli
ne and amorphous parts of the layer to the conductivity changes on dop
ing.
