Abstract
In the framework of the constituent model of mesons the contribution o f the quasi-Coulomb interaction and the values of the constant slope o f the linearly rising scalar potential (the coefficient of string tens ion) are calculated. The high-precision values of the constant slope o btained from the vector-meson mass spectrum confirms the hypothesis of flavor-independence of the scalar quark-antiquark potential.
