Sp. Attardmontalto et al., GANCICLOVIR TREATMENT OF CONGENITAL CYTOMEGALOVIRUS-INFECTION - A REPORT OF 2 CASES, Scandinavian journal of infectious diseases, 25(3), 1993, pp. 385-388
Ganciclovir has been shown to be effective against cytomegalovirus (CM
V) in vitro, but its role in the treatment of congenital cytomegalovir
us infection is unknown. We describe its use in the management of two
cases or congenital CMV infections. The drug was well tolerated and vi
rus shedding in the urine was eliminated, though hepatosplenomegaly an
d neurodevelopmental delay persisted in both cases.
