V. Vyas, AN EFFICIENT ALGORITHM FOR CALCULATING THE QUARK PROPAGATORS USING MIGDAL-KADANOFF TRANSFORMATION, Physics letters. Section B, 308(3-4), 1993, pp. 334-339
We present the first implementation of a multigrid algorithm for calcu
lating quark propagators for lattice QCD. The algorithm is based on a
simple modification of the Migdal-Kadanoff transformation. The resulti
ng algorithm is tested for Wilson fermions in four dimensions coupled
to SU (3) gauge fields generated at beta = 6.0. The algorithm is found
to be faster by a factor of two, in calculating the propagators of th
e light quarks, when compared with either the minimum residue algorith
m or the conjugate gradient algorithm.
