Abstract
Alumina-magnesia-graphite materials are based upon a combination of fu sed alumina or bauxite with magnesia (AMG + BMG). They are resin bonde d with 10 % carbon in form of natural lamellar high purity graphite. T hey also possess the advantageous property of progressive expansion du ring heat treatment, over and above the reversible PLC behaviour. Stee l ladle and torpedo ladle applications are examined in detail and the new products are compared with those currently used in regular use.
