Abstract
Mono- and disubstitution of HCO(CO)4 with tertiary phosphines and phos phites was studied by IR and H-1-NMR spectroscopy. It was found that t hese substitutions proceed through phosphonium tetracarbonylcobaltate intermediates, leading to a mixture of isomers. The crystal and molecu lar structure of trans-HCO(CO)3[P(O-p-C6H4Ph)3] was determined by X-ra y diffraction.
