J. Nakajima et al., ONE-DIMENSIONAL IMAGING WITH THE WASEDA FFT RADIO TELESCOPE, Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 45(3), 1993, pp. 477-485
A sixty-four-element fast Fourier transform (FFT) type radio interfero
meter has been constructed at Waseda University. Using eight east-west
elements, eight one-dimensional beams were formed. The analog phase e
rrors in the baseband signals of 64 channels were measured by fringe o
bservations, and were corrected by a digital processor. Images of two
radio sources were obtained in transit observation, when they passed t
he fixed eight fan-beams. This is the real-time one-dimensional imagin
g of eight pixels. The present image forming technique could be a basi
s for two-dimensional imaging. We report the frontend system and its p
erformance in the observation.
