Abstract
We introduce a multigrid algorithm to solve the convection-diffusion e quations using a nine-point compact difference scheme. We test the eff iciency of the algorithm with various smoothers and intergrid transfer operators. The algorithm displays a grid-independent convergence rate and produces solutions with high accuracy. Numerical results are pres ented to validate the conclusions. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
