Abstract
The damping of the long wavelength plasmon in a homogeneous electron l ayer is determined by two-electron-hole excitations. Analytical and nu merical results for the corresponding imaginary part of the dielectric function and the plasmon half width are presented for various densiti es and different manners of screening.
