Abstract
Calcium aluminate Ca12Al14O33 glass, on crystallisation around 1150-de grees-C, shows IR transparency beyond 6 mum which is unusual in cerami c materials and renders it suitable for use in IR optical devices. The material retains its IR transparency even on hydration. (C) 1993 The Institute of Materials.
