Abstract
The use of arsenazo III for the spectrophotometric determination of eu ropium(III) in solution has been investigated. Specifically, the use o f this indicator with varied conditions of solution pH and Ba2+ concen tration was studied. It was determined that a non-linear calibration w as possible when the ratio of absorbances measured at 651 and 603 nm w as plotted as a function of Eu3+ concentration. However, univariant me thods for Eu3+ quantitation were not successful with uncontrolled Ba2 concentrations.
