C. Freijlarsson et al., EFFECTS OF A POLYMERIC ADDITIVE IN A BIOMEDICAL POLY(ETHER URETHANEUREA), Journal of applied polymer science, 49(5), 1993, pp. 815-821
The biomedical poly (ether urethaneurea) Biomer has previously been sh
own to contain a standard antioxidant and a polymethacrylate additive
with surface active properties. In the present communication, the latt
er additive has been shown to influence the morphology, mechanical pro
perties, and surface chemistry of a poly(ether urethaneurea) with a co
mposition similar to Biomer. It was shown that the in vitro blood comp
atibility of the poly (ether urethaneurea) was improved and that adsor
ption of fibrinogen from blood plasma decreased significantly due to t
he presence of the surface active polymethacrylate additive. (C) 1993
