Abstract
Single-sludge biological treatment systems for nitrification-denitrifi cation and phosphorus removal have become widely accepted process opti ons due to the increasingly greater demand for effluent nutrient contr ol. The Soreq Biological Treatment Plant is a regional facility for mu nicipal wastewater treatment and effluent reclamation for irrigation p urposes, with a current average capacity of 220,000 m3/day. The perfor mance data presented for one full year of operation (1989-1990) under automatic process control indicate consistently high rates of carbon o xidation, nitrification-denitrification and enhanced phosphorus remova l.
